A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, clarinetist Jennifer Fischer has graced the stages of cities around the state including Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Mount Pleasant, Kalamazoo, and Muskegon. As a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral clarinetist, she has given numerous recitals and has collaborated with many acclaimed musicians.

Jennifer is an avid chamber musician and during her two years in Kansas City, MO, she was the resident clarinetist of the University of Missouri – Kansas City Graduate Fellowship Wind Quintet. With the ensemble, Jennifer made appearances throughout both the Kansas City and St. Louis areas. While in the Midwest, Jennifer was a finalist in the Naftzger Young Artist Competition in Wichita, KS, and played concerts at the Kauffman Center for the Arts during its inaugural season.



Her passion for new and lesser-known music for the clarinet and bass clarinet has lead Jennifer to be a part of groups such as the Contemporary Directions Ensemble at the University of Michigan. She has also programmed and performed works by such composers as Gergely Vajda, Carlos Guastavino, Juilio Medaglia, Paul Ladmirault, Peter Sculthorpe, Gulio Briccialdi, and Jorgen Jersild.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Music from Central Michigan University, a Master of Music from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and  a Specialist in Music degree from the University of Michigan. She has performed in classes for the Pacifica Quartet, Prism Quartet, Julian Bliss, Diana Haskell, Robert Crowley, Steve Cohen, and Joaquin Valdepenas. Her principal teachers include Jane Carl, Michael Petkus, Kennen White, Daniel Gilbert, and Chad Burrow.

Jennifer currently lives, performs and teaches in Lansing, Michigan with her partner, violinist Kyle Venlet and her Airedale terrier, Zeke.
